It is OK to use your textbook or lecture notes from class, but if you can answers the questions without it that is OK too.

Do not press the RETURN or ENTER key while you are answering these questions. Your browser will interpret either the same as clicking on the Submit key.

Answer all of the questions below. If you do not know an answer enter CNA. However, it will help me the most if you answer each question with your best intuition/idea about what would be a reasonable answer.

1. Calculate Horxn for the following reaction (note you will need a table of standard enthalpies of formation.) You might also print out the answers to the Enthalpy DCI to help with these calculations.

a) 3NO2(g) + H2O(l) ----> 2HNO3(aq) + NO(g) kJ mol-1

b) 2Na(s) + 2H2O(l) ----> 2NaOH(aq) + H2(g) kJ mol-1

c) I2(s) ----> I2(g) kJ mol-1

2. Using the data from 1b above answer the following question. A 0.500 g sample of sodium metal is added to a 50.0 mL sample of water initially at 22.5 °C. Assuming no heat is lost to the container, calculate the final temperature of the mixture.
