Here is my first attempt at using php to generate a gas law problem Problem tutorial using random numbers following the Show ME!, Help Me! Watch Me! format. Click on this problem (refresh or reload to generate a new problem). (updated 1/18/02)
Known problems...
1) the software does not currently keep track of whether the student has previously done a HM, SM or WM.
2) everytime you open PTGL1.php the problem is random generated, so a user could not get from a completed HM to SM with the same problem.
For this software to work it must run on a server that can interpret PHP scripts. The software will not work from the CD. To keep reviewers from knowing that the server is at Oklahoma state university Kent could serve it from one of McGraw-Hill's servers. We could provide a link on the CD and ask the reviewer to go to the McGraw-Hill web ste to run a sample Problem Tutorial.

10-1-01 Randomly generated problem using JavaScript (click reload to see a new problem with randomly generated numbers) The Show Me; Help Me; and Watch Me pages are not converted yet. We are working on that.
10-2-01 Randomly generated problem using JavaScript (click reload to see a new problem with randomly generated numbers) Show Me works on this version. When a user opens this page the javascript produces a new problem, randomly generating the pressure, volume and temperature for methane (we are working to randomize the ideal gas also). The Show Me button moves the user (on the same page) to the Show Me area and shows the solution to the problem. The Help Me; and Watch Me pages are not converted yet. We are working on that.
