Laboratory Section:

1. How many PLEs did you do this semester?

2. Did you feel the PLEs were too long, too short, or just right in terms of the amount of time your spent completing them?

3. How did the PLEs help you prepare for class?

4. Would you rather read a section in the textbook or do a PLE to prepare for class?

5. Did you use the feature that allowed you to see how other students were answering the PLE questions? Why or why not.

6. Please provide me with suggestions that you feel would make the PLEs more useful to future students?

7. How did you like the Personal Web Page (PWP) feature that I initiate this semester? What were some strengths, weaknesses?

8. What would be a feature(s) that you think would have helped make the PWP more helpful/useful to you?

9. Did you use the Ask the Exxxpert HELP features that was linked on some of the Problem Sets this semester?

10. If you used the Ask the Exxxpert HELP feature, please describe how/when you used them. How did they help you on Problem Sets, on studying for exams, etc.

11. This semester all of the Problem Sets were randomly generated. How did that change the way you worked on the questions?

12. I'm considering doing the Pre-laboratory problems on the Web. Good idea? Bad idea? Explain.

13. Tell me what were some of the things you did to prepare for a chemistry exam? Also tell me how useful each was in preparing you for the CHEM 1314 exams. (Here are a few things: read book, review PLEs, do problems from textbook, review problem set problems, practice on sample exams, etc.)

14. How often did you visit our web site?

19. What new features would you like to see? (yes, no, whatever with any comments you would like to include.)

Post lecture question(s): Like a Pre-Lecture Exploration, but one or two questions following lecture to see whether you understood a particular point/concept. It would require less than 10 minutes to complete.

Additional randomly generated problems (similar to Problem Set problems) that you could get from your personal page.

A page with a worked out sample problem that is also interactive. The interactivity would involve you answering simple questions at key points during the problem solution.

Concept pages: A page would include a discussion of a concept (like a textbook) with images, and possibly animations imbedded in the narrative, followed by a page where randomly generated questions are placed that you could access and answer. You would receive some feedback if you answered the question incorrectly.

Did you try the e-mail help feature that was available on the first and second PS this semester. That feature would provide a randomly generated e-mail address of a student who had answered a PS question correctly to a student who had gotten the wrong answer on that problem. If you did not use that feature do think that you would use that feature? Why or why not.

Is there anoher feature not mentioned that you think would make the class web site more useful to you?

20. Are there any other comments about CHEM 1314 that you would like to share.

Thank you for all your hard work this semster.

I really appreciate your comments on this survey, it will help me as I prepare for the class web site for the spring semester. Have a safe holiday.
