  • I've listed problems at the end of Chapter 3 that you should be able to do on the Assignment Page, After Lecture on Monday, September 8, 2003.
  • The PLE is ready for Wednesday's class. Although Wednesday's PLE is covering material that will NOT be on our exam most of the calculations in the PLE are calculations you will be responsible for on Exam I...so it will be good practice to see how well you understand using moles.
  • Remember PS3.1 - PS3.7 are due before 5:00 pm today in my office (PS155). I have placed envelopes, each with a lab section number and TA first name on the wall outside my office. Put your PS in the correct envelope. Glenda will be by just before 5:00 pm to collect all the PS. SO DO NOT be late.
  • Here is the Useful Information Page for Exam I.
  • HELP Session, Monday, September 8, 2003 at 8:00 pm in PS141. Gary and Danny are doing a HELP Session on Tuesday, September 9, 2003 at 9:00 pm in PS141.
  • PS3.7 may appear funky on your Problem Set. This will ONLY happen if you go to the Problem Set link and print out PS3 after you have clicked on the PS3 link once. So if you did not print PS3 the VERY FIRST time you clicked on the PS3 link PS3.7 b and PS3.7c will look funky. You will have to make up numbers for those two problems. Some of the other problems on PS3 may look strange. Just go to the PS link and look at your PS again. Everything will be OK except PS3.7b and PS3.7c.
  • We agreed at the end of class today that you are responsible for PS3.1 - PS3.7. So you can turn in those problems. We will not grade PS3.8 - PS3.10. Those will be included when turning in PS4.
  • Oh, BTW 5:00 pm means 5:00 pm!
  • PS#3 is now available. There are just a few minor bugs that I am working on so if anything happens that is strange, let me know.
  • Oh, man...I totally messed up. I just got into town and as I was driving in I realized #@!$%& our Help session! I completely forgot. I headed over to Tulsa Sunday to visit my daughter (her birthday is today..Monday). After breakfast we ran a few errands in Tulsa and stopped by the Toyota dealership (on Memorial) and I ended up getting a new ride. It took most of the afternoon and I felt guilty for trashing my daughter's birthday so I took her out to dinner...and well, I dropped the ball with you guys. So Help Session Tuesday evening same time 8:00 pm, should be PS141 and I'll be there, I promise. And thanks for leaving the note with everyone's name.
  • PLE#6 for Wednesday, September 3, 2003 is ready.
  • We will have a Help! Session on Monday, september 1, 2003 evening beginning at 7:45 pm in PS141. I think the building doors may be locked so come to the entrance that faces WEST. There will be a door ajar so you can get in.
  • I have some HELP available (Problem set link on your Personal Web page) for PS2. If you have answers to PS2.1, 2, 3, 5, 6 and 7 ask the Exxxpert and see how you are doing.
  • Be sure to check what you must complete BEFORE attending laboratory this week. Go to your Assignment Page.
  • I forgot to mention in class on Wednesday (it is on the Assignment Page)...start memorizing Tables 2.4, 2.5 and 2.6. in your textbook. These table contain the names of important ions that you must know for the first exam. Start memorizing now so you do not have to memorize at the last minute.
  • Problem Set #2 is now available at the Problem Set link on your Personal page. It due at the beginning of class beginning Wednesday, September 3, 2003.
  • We are now starting the third week of classes so the Assignment page will automatically load the third week page. Click on Week 1 or 2 to revisit the first or second week's assignment page.
  • If you are new to this web page the first thing you need to do to access materials for this class is to complete the Secret Identification (SID) form. Click on the SID#/Name link in the left frame and complete the form. You will receive an e-mail from Dr. G. indicating your SID has been accepted. Once you have entered an SID you can go to your Personal page.
  • Here are this semester's laboratory sections. Be sure to bring your calculator to laboratory this week! Yes! Labs are meeting this week (8/25/03 - 8/29/03). Already missed lab?? Oh Oh! Better contact your TA immediately. Your TA's e-mail address is below.

  • Check out the link to the web site for our textbook (BLB). The link is near the top of the left frame on our web site. Clicking on the link will take you to a page with an image of our textbook. Near the top of the page is a dropdown menu listing the Chapters in the text. Select a chapter and a page will be loaded for that chapter that contains links to resources. If you would like some practice problems try the Problem Soving Center. When the Problem Center page is load scroll down to the red button under flexible questions. Select the Homework link. This will generate a set of questions from the chapter. You will need a calculator.

  • Here is a very nice Periodic Table that contains lots of physical properties and chemical properties for the elements.
