You
have been using PLEs and ICEs this semester and I would like to get some feedback
from you. Please answer the questions on the PLE Mid-Semester Survey located
on your personal page (the main page that comes up when you go to your personal
page). Completing this survey will be worth one ICE (4 ICE's = 1 PS). Thank
you in advance for your comments.
PLE#20
is ready.
PS#8
is ready. Remember it is due Monday, October 13, 2003. So we will need a HELP
Session on Sunday, October 12th. Corrections on PS#8 so far;
-
PS8.4...the 2nd equation has a coefficient
for methane that is wrong, instead of 2 it should be 1...the correct equation
is;
CH4(g) + 2O2(g) __> CO2(g) +
2H2O(g)
Note: if you have not printed your PS8 yet, this error has been fixed on
your PS.
-
PS8.5....the third equation the oxygen molecule
has the wrong coefficient...the correct equation should be,
4NH3(g) + 3O2(g) __> 2N2(g)
+ 6H2O(l)
-
In PS8.1 if you have CO2(g) __>
CO2(g) change the equation to CO2(g) __>
CO2(s).
The
most current grades are posted for all TA's. Remember if any PS or lab score
does not agree with your score on the PS or lab talk to your TA. If you do
not see a change in a reasonable length of time (a week) please let Dr. G
know.
Hey,
anyone out there want to win an iPod?..the way cool mp3 player by Apple. This
opportunity is only available to OSU students. Check out the web
site with the information. If anyone has questions get in touch with me,
and let me know if you are interested I may be able to help. I just got this
information this afternoon, so get over to the SU Bookstore and Kara in the
back of the store.
Gary
Swantner and Danny Holderman are doing a Review Session in preparation for
Exam II on Tuesday, October 14th from 4:00 - 6:00 pm in ES317 (our classroom).
Students not in Gary or Danny's sections are welcome.
Lab
information for this week is available at your personal assignment page. Students
in Section 10 - 15 and 19 need to do the onLine PLabE (pre-laboratory questions)
before going to laboratory. All other sections should complete the pre-lab
questions in the laboratory manual.
Found in ES317 after class on Wednesday, September
24th: 1 calculator, 1 pair of sun glasses and 1 carabiener.
Claim in my office.
With 10 sections entered the exam average
is 56 and the high score is a 98. You will get your exams back in laboratory
beginning Thursday, September 11th. When your TA returns your exam look it
over. If you have any questions and would like us to re-grade a question on
your exam write a brief note and return the exam to your TA. We will look
at the exam in our next staff meeting. If you are satisfied with your exam
you may keep it. After you take the exam from your lab room I will NOT change
the grade!
Be
sure to check what you must complete BEFORE attending laboratory this week.
Go to your Assignment Page.

Check out the link to the web site for our
textbook (BLB). The link is near the top of the left frame on our web site.
Clicking on the link will take you to a page with an image of our textbook.
Near the top of the page is a dropdown menu listing the Chapters in the text.
Select a chapter and a page will be loaded for that chapter that contains
links to resources. If you would like some practice problems try the Problem
Solving Center. When the Problem Center page is loaded scroll down to the
red button under flexible questions. Select the Homework link. This will generate
a set of questions from the chapter. You will need a calculator.
Here is a very nice Periodic
Table that contains lots of physical properties and chemical properties
for the elements.
