Help Session 8:00 pm, PS141 tonight, Monday, October 20th. I'll answer questions on PS#9.

PLE#24 is ready.

The class overall average is 63% after the second exam. My preferred average is 65%, so we are just a little low, but I expect this average to increase over the next week or so. So I think (on the average) class is performing VERY well. Keep up the good work.

Did anyone leave a sweatshirt (new) in PS141, following our Help session on Monday evening, October 13th? I've got it.

We finally finished grading. It will be several hours before grades are posted. More info soon. Eleven sections have been totaled and the average 51.2. The high was a 98 by Jacoby Dewald. CONGRATULATIONS Jacoby! See you in class on Friday...lots of SWAG! coming your way. Grades are up.

You have been using PLEs and ICEs this semester and I would like to get some feedback from you. Please answer the questions on the PLE Mid-Semester Survey located on your personal page (the main page that comes up when you go to your personal page). Completing this survey will be worth one ICE (4 ICE's = 1 PS). Thank you in advance for your comments.

PS#8 is ready. Remember it is due Monday, October 13, 2003. So we will need a HELP Session on Sunday, October 12th. Corrections on PS#8 so far;

• PS8.4...the 2nd equation has a coefficient for methane that is wrong, instead of 2 it should be 1...the correct equation is;
  CH₄(g) + 2O₂(g) ^__> CO₂(g) + 2H₂O(g)
  Note: if you have not printed your PS8 yet, this error has been fixed on your PS.
• PS8.5....the third equation the oxygen molecule has the wrong coefficient...the correct equation should be,
  4NH₃(g) + 3O₂(g) ^__> 2N₂(g) + 6H₂O(l)
• In PS8.1 if you have CO₂(g) ^__> CO₂(g) change the equation to CO₂(g) ^__> CO₂(s).
• In PS8.7 if your equation is; 4C₂H₅NO₂(l) + 9O₂(g) ^__> 8CO₂(g) + 10H₂O(l) + 2H₂(g) change the product from 2H₂(g) to 2N₂(g).
  

The most current grades are posted for all TA's. Remember if any PS or lab score does not agree with your score on the PS or lab talk to your TA. If you do not see a change in a reasonable length of time (a week) please let Dr. G know.

Lab information for this week is available at your personal assignment page. Students in Section 10 - 15 and 19 need to do the onLine PLabE (pre-laboratory questions) before going to laboratory. All other sections should complete the pre-lab questions in the laboratory manual.

Found in ES317 after class on Wednesday, September 24th: 1 calculator, 1 pair of sun glasses and 1 carabiener. Claim in my office.

With 10 sections entered the exam average is 56 and the high score is a 98. You will get your exams back in laboratory beginning Thursday, September 11th. When your TA returns your exam look it over. If you have any questions and would like us to re-grade a question on your exam write a brief note and return the exam to your TA. We will look at the exam in our next staff meeting. If you are satisfied with your exam you may keep it. After you take the exam from your lab room I will NOT change the grade!
