  • The PLE for Monday is ready.

  • I've added a PS16 to your grades. This PS score was determined by awarding 3 points to ICE #3, #4, #5 and #7. Points were awarded for attending class that day, and turning in the ICE. I've also reposted the grade predictions. If anything looks funky let me know.

  • Answers to PS13 are now available. They may be helpful in answering some of the questions on PS14. You should be able to do PS14.1 - 14.8.

  • Most current grades are now available. Also I have a link to predict what you must do on Exam IV and the Final for a particular grade in the course. The prediction is not perfect, but will certainly give you something to think about. I'm always happy to talk to any student in more detail.

  • Do you know your FINAL schedule?

  • Here is a Table of Standard Reduction Potentials that is in a form more use to the Problem set.

  • The overall course average is 66%. This is most excellent. The average I would like at the end of the semester is 65%. We're at 66% and we have not dropped any PSs or labs. So on the average everyone is doing great.

  • A few students are having some problems with the PLE. The message you receive is " There is a major problem. The PLE database does not recognize you. Your responses have been recorded into a SCRATCH database. Note the time you did this PLE and Contact Dr. Gelder." Inorder to diagnose this problem I need to better understand what you were doing at the time. So if you get this message send me an e-mail. I'm saving the responses to a SCRATCH file but there are NO names on the responses. How to avoid this problem?! Before doing the a PLE be absolutely sure that you see your name on your Personal web Page at the top of the left hand frame, and you see your name in the PLE form itself. If either are missing DO NOT DO THE PLE until you have re-logged in to your Personal Web page. The issue has to do with how much time you are on your personal web page and nothing is happening. If you have been logged on to your personal web page for a while, and done nothing it may have timed out, so it no longer knows who you are. Be careful before doing the PLE!

  • This semester I want to try using personal web pages. To take advantage of this new feature you will have to give me a Secret Identification number or name. Go to the SID#/Name link in the left frame and complete the information requested. After you have given me your SID information you will be able to access your own personal CHEM 1515 Web page through the Personal Page. The personal page will have information specifically associated with you: grades, PLE's, homework, exams, plus other way cool stuff. So get your SID set up now!
      • Since this is the FIRST time I have tried to use the Personal Web Page concept there are going to be problems. You must e-mail me, or contact me when you have problems so I can solve them quickly. Hang in there, it is going to be FUN! this semester.
  • Here are this semester's laboratory sections.

  • Check out the link to the web site for our textbook (BLB). The link is near the top of the left frame on our web site. Clicking on the link will take you to a page with an image of our textbook. Near the top of the page is a dropdown menu listing the Chapters in the text. Select a chapter and a page will be loaded for that chapter that contains links to resources. If you would like some practice problems try the Problem Soving Center. When the Problem Center page is load scroll down to the red button under flexible questions. Select the Homework link. This will generate a set of questions from the chapter. You will need a calculator.

  • Here is a very nice Periodic Table that contains lots of physical properties and chemical properties for the elements.
